We are seeking an experienced and motivated HR Generalist to join our Human Resources team and support our fast-paced manufacturing operations in Macon, GA.

Job Summary

The HR Generalist serves as a key business partner to employees, supervisors, and management within a 24/7 manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for employee relations, labor relations, recruitment, onboarding, payroll support, benefits administration, performance management, policy interpretation, and HR compliance. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, experience supporting a manufacturing workforce, and the ability to manage multiple HR functions while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for employees, supervisors, and managers regarding employee relations, workplace concerns, company policies, and HR best practices.
  • Advise leadership on disciplinary actions, performance management, corrective action processes, and policy administration in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
  • Investigate employee relations matters, document findings, and recommend appropriate resolutions.
  • Monitor attendance, corrective actions, employee performance trends, and workforce metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and employee engagement.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with company policies, labor agreements, and employment laws.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to support full-cycle recruiting activities, including candidate screening, interviews, background checks, drug testing, pre-employment processing, and hiring activities.
  • Coordinate onboarding and new hire orientation programs to ensure a positive employee experience and successful integration into the organization.
  • Ensure new employees receive required training, safety information, equipment, and resources needed for success.
  • Support payroll processing activities by reviewing employee data, timekeeping records, attendance information, and payroll-related documentation for accuracy.
  • Assist with employee benefits administration, including employee inquiries, enrollment support, and communication of benefit programs.
  • Collaborate with HR leadership on workforce planning, retention initiatives, employee engagement programs, and HR process improvements.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations, including FMLA, ADA, EEO, and wage and hour requirements.
  • Participate in special HR projects and provide support across multiple Human Resources functions as business needs require.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources Generalist experience.
  • Strong experience in employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, payroll support, and benefits administration.
  • Experience supporting a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment preferred.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment and knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, workplace investigations, and HR best practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with HRIS, payroll systems, and applicant tracking systems (ATS) is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
