What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Wealth Advisor (CFP®) position at Kuhns Wealth?
At Kuhns Wealth, we believe exceptional financial planning changes lives.
Our mission is simple: help successful individuals and families make wise financial decisions through thoughtful planning, disciplined investing, and trusted lifelong relationships.
We're looking for an Associate Wealth Advisor who shares that philosophy; someone who loves financial planning, enjoys developing meaningful relationships, and wants to build a long-term career as a fiduciary advisor rather than a salesperson.
This is not a production-based advisory role. There are no cold-calling requirements, no prospecting quotas, and no pressure to "sell products."
Instead, you'll serve an established group of client relationships, work alongside experienced advisors, and grow your career by delivering such an exceptional client experience that referrals naturally follow.
You'll become the primary advisor for an assigned group of clients, helping them navigate life's most important financial decisions.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead annual and semi-annual client review meetings.
- Build lasting relationships with clients and their families.
- Proactively identify planning opportunities.
- Coordinate implementation of financial planning recommendations.
- Serve as the client's trusted financial advocate.
Every recommendation begins with planning.
Using our Financial Foundations process, you'll help clients create and maintain comprehensive plans covering:
- Retirement Income Planning
- Investment Planning
- Tax Planning
- Legacy & Estate Planning
- Protection & Risk Management
You'll collaborate with attorneys, CPAs, and other professionals to ensure every recommendation works together as part of a complete financial strategy.
Working within the firm's investment philosophy, you'll:
- Review portfolio allocations
- Discuss market events with clients
- Recommend appropriate portfolio adjustments
- Ensure investments remain aligned with client goals and risk tolerance
Our investment philosophy is disciplined, evidence-based, and planning-driven, not product-driven.
Great planning deserves great service.
You'll:
- Prepare for client meetings
- Develop thoughtful financial analyses
- Follow through on action items
- Maintain accurate CRM documentation
- Coordinate with the client service team
- Deliver prompt, proactive communication
We strive to make every interaction reinforce the confidence clients place in our firm.
This role is intentionally different from many advisory positions.
You will not be expected to:
- Cold call
- Purchase leads
- Prospect strangers
- Meet product sales quotas
- Generate business through outbound marketing
Instead, we believe the best growth comes from delighted clients. You'll be encouraged to:
- Build relationships worthy of referrals.
- Meet with prospective clients introduced by existing clients.
- Participate in educational workshops and client events.
- Represent Kuhns Wealth with professionalism in the community.
Success is measured by the trust you earn, not by the number of people you call.
You're someone who:
- Believes financial planning is more important than selling investments.
- Enjoys solving complex financial problems.
- Loves developing long-term relationships.
- Communicates clearly and confidently.
- Is naturally curious and committed to continuous learning.
- Holds yourself to the highest ethical standards.
- Wants to spend your career making a meaningful difference in clients' lives.
Required
- CFP® certification in good standing
- Bachelor's degree
- 2 years of financial planning or wealth management experience
- Strong knowledge of retirement, tax, estate, investment, and insurance planning
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to acting as a fiduciary
Preferred
- Experience in an independent RIA
- Experience with financial planning software
- CRM experience
- Securities licenses as appropriate
We invest in long-term careers, not short-term production.

- Professional development opportunities
Our clients don't hire us to sell investments.
They hire us to simplify complexity, provide confidence, and help them make better financial decisions.
If you're looking for a place where your success is defined by the lives you improve, not by sales quotas, we'd love to meet you.
