What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electronic Systems Engineer position at Kuhn North America, Inc.?
The Electronic Systems Engineer is responsible for design and development of innovative electronic/electrical hardware and software products that provide high quality and reliable performance to our customers at a competitive cost. The Electronic Systems Engineer also serves as the primary resource for all electronic/electrical applications and as a technical resource for design engineering, sales, marketing, and manufacturing by participating in design reviews and providing input and review of projects as directed.
\tDesign and/or select hardware, software, harnesses, sensors, displays, and human interfaces.
\tDevelop and evaluate product designs based on customer needs, manufacturability, cost, and safety.
\tDevelop design specifications for controls and electronic/electrical systems in collaboration with product development, product management, product testing, sales and marketing, manufacturing, and customers for projects assigned.
\tDevelop test plans and direct testing with test personnel.
\tProvide technical support to product development team, product management, product testing, product support, sales and marketing, manufacturing, purchasing, and suppliers as assigned.
\tAct as Kuhn North America’s main representative in Kuhn global electronics group.
\tCollaborate with Kuhn global electronics group and suppliers on new and existing electronic/electrical needs.
\tParticipate in all product design reviews and provide input on designs based on experience and knowledge of design and manufacturing.
\tDefine and ensure application of best practices/standards, processes, and component quality requirements for controls and electrical systems.
\tEnsure compliance with governmental regulation (e.g., FCC, CE), industry standards (e.g., ASABE, SAE, ISO) and established safety norms.
\tPerform engineering design calculations pertinent to the design of Kuhn products.
\tOperate software (e.g., IDE, CAD, MS Visio) to design, produce drawings and schematics, and develop bills of materials.
Education and/or Experience – A qualified candidate will possess a four-year bachelor’s degree in mechatronics, electrical, software, computer engineering, or any closely-related field and a minimum of 3 years of embedded hardware and software experience. A farming background with knowledge of hay tools, spreaders and mixers is preferred.
