Duties
- Conduct thorough speech and language assessments to identify communication impairments in pediatric and adult patients.
- Develop and implement individualized speech-language therapy plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
- Provide direct therapy sessions via in-person or telehealth platforms to improve speech clarity, language comprehension, voice quality, and social communication skills.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams—including educators, physicians, occupational therapists, and families—to coordinate care strategies.
- Educate parents, caregivers, and patients on speech therapy exercises and strategies to reinforce progress at home or in daily life.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR), ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Perform comprehensive speech and language evaluations for early intervention programs or special education settings to support children with disabilities or developmental delays.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program; licensure or certification as required by state or country regulations.
- Proven experience working with pediatric populations, including early intervention services in schools or clinics.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to speech production and swallowing functions.
- Experience working with individuals with speech impairments, language delays, voice disorders, or cognitive communication challenges.
- Familiarity with telehealth therapy platforms and experience delivering remote services effectively.
- Ability to perform patient assessments accurately and develop evidence-based treatment plans aligned with best practices.
- Excellent collaboration skills for working within multidisciplinary teams and engaging with families for optimal outcomes.
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to speech-language pathology and understanding of working with geriatric patients is a plus.
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems for documentation and patient management.
