Director of Nursing (DON)
Location: Northeast Iowa (community confidential until selected for interview)
We are partnering with a respected long-term care community in Northeast Iowa in their search for an experienced Director of Nursing to lead and elevate their nursing operations at their facility in Northeast Iowa.
The Director of Nursing will oversee all nursing operations, ensuring that care delivery meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and resident satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who builds strong teams, embraces compliance, and fosters an environment where residents, families, and staff feel supported.
This role requires someone who enjoys structure, leads with integrity, and thrives in a setting where resident care is at the heart of every decision.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead, organize, and oversee all nursing operations and clinical services
- Maintain regulatory compliance and uphold quality and safety standards
- Build and mentor a high-performing nursing team
- Collaborate closely with leadership to support operational goals
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Foster positive relationships with residents and their families
- Ensure efficient processes, strong communication, and accountability across the department
Qualifications
- Registered Nursing Degree (RN required; BSN preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Director of Nursing, preferably in long-term care or assisted living
- Deep understanding of long-term care regulations, quality measures, and survey processes
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex situations, and drive high standards of care
- Compassionate, organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at developing others
