Overview

The Managing Director for Complex Digital Events serves in a leadership role for a specialized practice focused on building bespoke, investigation-specific teams for complex technical investigations, litigation consulting and expert testimony, and other large-scale digital events. Sample engagements handed by the practice include targeted, nation-state sponsored cyberattacks and forensic investigations and expert testimony supporting data breach litigation, trade secret/intellectual property theft, and employment disputes. For this position, Kroll is seeking a digital forensics expert with experience as a testifying expert witness in complex, digital investigations, such as matters involving theft of intellectual property and trade secrets.

This leader is responsible for building and scaling an investigations capability that supports enterprise clients, mitigates risk, and drives continuous improvement across digital event ecosystems.

  • Forensic Investigations: Lead high-profile investigations into intellectual property and trade secret theft, insider threats, data theft and extortion, and other situations involving digital evidence. Partner with legal, compliance, executive, and other stakeholders to meet regulatory and organizational requirements. Translate technical findings into concise, business-relevant, and actionable intelligence for clients.
  • Client and Stakeholder Leadership: Serve as trusted advisor and build relationships by providing expert guidance during crisis situations, acting as the point of contact for executives and counsel during complex investigations, and supporting clients through risk mitigation, remediation planning, litigation strategies, and risk readiness.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee, maintain, and develop relentlessly high standards for evidence preservation, chain of custody, analysis, reporting, and client communications. Collaborate with delivery and engineering teams to raise the bar on delivery efficiency, comprehensiveness, and reproducibility.
  • Growth and Market Strategy: Partner with sales, marketing and executive leadership to shape go-to-market strategies and thought leadership. Identify new opportunities via existing clients and new markets and develop service offerings to complement existing solutions.

  • Experience working with legal, compliance, and executive stakeholders on sensitive or confidential matters.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong investigative and analytical skills, including root‑cause analysis and incident forensics.
