Krise Transportation is seeking a Director of Fleet who will play a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of our fleet operations in Pennsylvania. This position can be located anywhere across Pennsylvania. The Director of Fleet will be responsible for managing a diverse fleet of vehicles used for student transportation, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. The Director of Fleet reports to the President.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities include the following:
Fleet Management
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the fleet department, including vehicle maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Manage a team of maintenance and logistics staff, ensuring they are well-trained and motivated to deliver high-quality service.
Safety and Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of student transportation safety.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including vehicle inspections and licensing requirements.
Fleet Optimization
- Continuously assess and optimize the fleet's composition and utilization to maximize efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Monitor vehicle performance and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
Budget Management
- Develop and manage the fleet budget, tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Make data-driven recommendations for procurement, disposal, and replacement of vehicles.
Vendor and Supplier Relations
- Manage relationships with suppliers, vendors, and service providers to secure competitive pricing and ensure timely maintenance and repairs.
Reporting and Analysis
- Generate and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to fleet operations to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Provide regular reports to senior management and collaborate on strategic decision-making.
Environmental Responsibility
- Explore and implement eco-friendly and sustainable initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of the fleet.
All other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Five or more years' experience in overseeing fleet maintenance or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge of tools, procedures, technical skills and safety rules used in the maintenance and repair of gasoline, diesel, and alternative powered equipment.
- Technology skills including use of Microsoft Office applications and fleet electronic diagnostic software, tools and equipment. Previous experience using electronic fleet management software systems.
- Written and verbal communication skills, and customer service skills are essential. Ability to deal with problems and find solutions.
- Must have knowledge of Federal and State regulations, including EPA and OSHA requirements related to the shop and maintenance functions.
- Must conduct oneself in a professional manner
- Must highly motivated and demonstrate excellent leadership skills
- Must make sure staff utilizes all safety equipment
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This position may require travel to other facilities operated by the company including the home office located in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania
