HR Generalist

About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and dependable HR Generalist to join our team in Los Angeles. This is a hands-on, field-facing role supporting a food production environment. You will be the day-to-day HR point of contact for our workforce — ensuring compliance, documentation, and accountability across all HR functions. Complex matters are escalated to our employment attorneys and HR advisory service, so you will be focused on execution and follow-through.
Key Responsibilities
Scheduling & Time Compliance
- Audit employee schedules and store opening times for accuracy and compliance
- Monitor overtime tracking and ensure all OT is properly approved
- Issue corrective action for unapproved overtime, unapproved meal premiums, and missed punches
Employee Relations & Performance
- Issue and document corrective actions for performance issues in a timely manner
- Enforce 6-month performance review cadence for all employees
- Ensure accurate documentation for sick time and vacation usage
Recruiting & Onboarding
- Oversee end-to-end recruiting process including job postings, candidate screening, and offer coordination
- Manage onboarding for all new hires, including factory/production employees
- Administer and track recruiting bonuses
- Ensure all employees obtain and maintain valid Food Handler's Cards
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure proper documentation and processing of all terminations
- Handle workers' compensation claims and workplace injury reporting
- Ensure leadership team submits daily end-of-day reports
- Verify leadership team participation in daily Life360 tracking
Qualifications
- 2 years of HR experience, preferably in a food production, manufacturing, or field-based environment
- Familiarity with California labor law, including OT rules, meal/rest premiums, and corrective action procedures
- Experience with an HRIS system; Paylocity experience is a plus
- Comfortable issuing corrective actions and holding employees accountable
- Strong organizational skills and attention to documentation detail
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Compensation & Benefits
- $65,000 – $70,304 annually ($27 – $31/hr), depending on experience
- Full-time, on-site position based in Los Angeles, CA
