Job Summary:
The Demand Planning Manager is responsible for leading enterprise demand planning and forecasting methodology and ensuring ERP systems accurately reflect demand planning outputs. This role oversees the integration of forecast data into actionable system parameters that inform purchasing decisions, optimize inventory strategy, and support cross-functional and supplier alignment.
Key Responsibilities:
Demand Forecasting & Supplier Alignment
- Develop and maintain statistically driven demand forecasts based on historical data, trends, and customer requirements.
- Participate in regular supplier forecast calls to communicate demand signals and assumptions.
- Manage customer-specific stocking requirements, ensuring supplier plans support service level goals.
- Collaborate with Procurement to ensure supplier capacity and lead times are aligned with forecasted demand.
ERP System & MRP Management
- Own the management of demand planning data within the ERP system, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Adjust MRP parameters(e.g., EOQ, reorder points, safety stock, lead times) to reflect forecast outputs and optimize purchasing behavior.
- Ensure buyers are receiving accurate, system-driven recommendations based on updated demand inputs.
- Monitor system performance and collaborate with ERP support teams to troubleshoot and improve functionality.
Inventory Strategy & Item Management
- Evaluate and recommend changes to item strategies based on demand patterns and supplier capabilities.
- Support stocking decisions for strategic customers and high-volume items.
- Identify opportunities to reduce excess inventory and improve turns through better forecast alignment.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead the Demand Review activities within the S&OP framework, including demand review meetings, forecast validation, and alignment across Sales, Procurement, and Operations.
- Work closely with Sales, Procurement, and Operations to ensure demand plans are aligned with business needs.
- Communicate forecast changes and supply risks to relevant stakeholders.
- Support the S&OP process by providing disciplined demand inputs, forecast assumptions, and system data.
- Provide training on forecasting tools, ERP usage, and planning best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Perform duties to AS/ISO and applicable Accounting procedures and regulations.
Qualifications:
- 5–8 years of experience in demand planning, supply chain, inventory management, or a related function
- Proficiency in demand forecasting tools and statistical forecasting methods
- Strong experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and MRP functionality
- Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement solutions
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present data-driven insights clearly
