Shipping Coordinator (Temp)

Job Description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Prepare and coordinate shipments for accurate and on-time delivery of products. Maintain Shipping records as required by GSS & government procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Requests Government Bills of Lading.
• Prepares DD250s/WAWF per contract release.
• Prepares DD1149s per FAR requirements.
• Enters shipment requirements into Exostar.
• Prepares Commercial Invoices.
• Prepares Packing Lists using online program.
• Prepares Bills of Lading.
• Proper distribution of all paperwork.
• Haz-Mat preparation and shipment per 49 CFR.
• Regulations regarding Hazmat transportation.
• Identification and security of Government-furnished property.
• Inventory report of all Finished Goods as required.
• Maintains Shipping department records.
• Acquiring transportation quotes.
• Makes final shipping arrangements with Freight Carriers/Forwarders.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Packaging of small parts
• Preparing parts and paperwork for outsourcing. Complete all system transactions as required.
• Continually look for opportunities to improve manufacturing time and cost and provide data to support the improvements.
• Other duties may be assigned.
  
  

Experience And Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

• Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with peers, supervisors & customers.
• Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.
• Ability to adhere to workplace rules.
• Advanced knowledge and application of MS Office Suite, including Excel.
  
  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• College/university degree in the Supply Chain field preferred or equivalent experience.
• 2 to 4 years related experience in Supply Chain.
• HazMat Shipping Certification preferred but not required.
• APICS certified or in pursuit of certification preferred but not required.
  
  

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Office environment.
• Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
• Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).
• Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
• Ability to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
