Role Description
The Commercial Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities to ensure commercial projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents, building codes, and quality standards. This role serves as the primary on-site leader, coordinating subcontractors, inspectors, and field personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily on-site operations for commercial construction projects
- Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and labor crews
- Enforce safety policies and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules
- Develop and maintain project schedules; coordinate work sequencing
- Conduct daily site inspections to ensure quality workmanship
- Communicate progress, issues, and updates to Project Managers and stakeholders
- Coordinate inspections with local authorities and third-party inspectors
- Track material deliveries and ensure proper storage and usage
- Resolve field issues, conflicts, and constructability challenges
- Maintain accurate daily reports, logs, and as-built documentation
- Ensure work complies with contract requirements, codes, and regulations
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes
- Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors and trades
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency with construction management software and scheduling tools
- OSHA 30 certification (preferred)
