Job Description
Wind Turbine Performance Analysis will be responsible for centralized monitoring, performance evaluation, and operational analysis of wind power plants across the portfolio. The role focuses on real-time turbine monitoring, SCADA analytics, generation loss analysis, fault diagnostics, KPI tracking, and coordination with O&M, Asset Management, and OEM teams to maximize turbine availability, reliability, and energy generation.
Key Responsibilities
Wind Turbine Monitoring & Performance Analysis
- Monitor wind turbine generation, availability, capacity factor, and operational performance through SCADA and monitoring platforms.
- Perform detailed generation loss analysis including grid outages, turbine downtime, yaw misalignment, pitch system issues, curtailment, high wind cut-out, low wind conditions, and OEM-related losses.
- Analyze wind speed, wind direction, air density, turbulence intensity, and meteorological mast/LiDAR data to evaluate turbine performance against power curves.
- Conduct turbine-wise and wind farm-wise benchmarking to identify underperforming assets.
- Monitor gearbox, generator, converter, hydraulic, pitch, yaw, transformer, and blade health indicators for degradation trends.
- Track KPIs including Availability, Technical Availability, PLF, Capacity Factor, Energy Yield, Specific Generation, and MTBF/MTTR.
- Validate SCADA, turbine controller, and meter data; identify communication failures and data gaps.
- Monitor contractual KPIs, OEM guarantees, and SLA compliance.
- Support performance improvement initiatives through optimization of turbine settings and operational strategies.
- Prepare performance deviation reports with root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations.
- Conduct predictive performance analysis using historical trends, alarms, vibration, temperature, and condition monitoring data.
- Coordinate with O&M, Asset Management, and OEM teams for timely resolution of performance issues.
- Evaluate effectiveness of preventive and corrective maintenance through post-maintenance performance analysis.
- Provide first-level technical support for wind turbine operational issues.
- Coordinate with site O&M teams and OEMs for fault diagnosis and resolution.
- Monitor turbine alarms, breakdowns, grid disturbances, and critical operational events.
- Track incident closure, root cause analysis (RCA), and implementation of corrective actions.
- Prepare Daily Generation Reports (DGR), Monthly Performance Reports, MIS dashboards, and fleet performance summaries.
- Coordinate with O&M, Asset Management, OEMs, Grid Operations, and Engineering teams.
- Present fleet performance trends, reliability analysis, and operational insights to management.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly performance review meetings.
- Supervise performance analysts and NOC engineers.
- Ensure adherence to monitoring procedures, escalation matrix, and reporting standards.
- Develop team capability in SCADA analytics, turbine diagnostics, KPI reporting, and data-driven decision making.
- Coordinate with cross-functional departments for operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering
- 6–8 years of experience in Wind Farm Operations, Performance Monitoring, or Performance Analytics.
- Experience with utility-scale wind projects preferred.
- Knowledge of SCADA, CMS (Condition Monitoring System), and OEM turbine platforms.
