Advanced Mechanic

Kottke Trucking, a privately held, family-owned truckload carrier specializing in reefer (temperature controlled) and dry freight services, is looking for an Advanced Mechanic to join our team. We have been in continuous operation since 1938 by three generations of the Kottke family. Position Overview:

This person will work to ensure the company delivers on its promises to our customer base, through the upkeep of our equipment. This person will be required to perform PM maintenance, required maintenance and work with the Shops Lead on developing strategies to improve uptime and reduced/contained costs.

Essential Job Functions:

· Perform all duties of skilled diesel mechanic following recognized procedures for such work, as required.

· Advise shop lead on problems encountered in repairs and servicing.

· Perform related duties as assigned.

Non-Essential Job Functions:

· General Building Maintenance

· Service calls as required.

Requirements:

· High school graduation and six years of experience as a diesel mechanic in a commercial, industrial or highway garage.

· Ability to troubleshoot issues using software programs such as Cummins insite, Volvo tech tool, Jpro.

· Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment of the trade.

· Detailed knowledge of the principles of internal combustion engines and automotive components, including auto-electric, air brakes, after treatment, reefer units and mechanical systems.

· Ability to analyze malfunctions and apply corrective action.

· Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.

· Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.

· Must be able to wear and use appropriate protective equipment, as necessary.

· While performing the essential functions of this job, employee is regularly required to lift, move or carry objects up to 100 lbs; ascend or descend ladders, stairs; utilize feet and legs or hands and arms; maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, or navigating narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces; bend body downward and forward by bending spine and legs; move about on hands and knees or hands and feet; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects; and to reach with hands and arms.

· While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic substances, excessive noise, and dampness/humidity. While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent is regularly exposed to possible bodily injury from electrical shock; and moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools, and machinery.
