Position Scope:
The Assistant Supervisor – AutoCAD Submittals plays a key leadership support role in the Submittals (or Submitting) Department. You will oversee daily AutoCAD drafting operations for preliminary layouts, submittal drawings, and related technical documentation while assisting the Department Supervisor with team coordination, quality control, process improvements, and project deadlines.
This position combines hands-on AutoCAD 2D drafting expertise with supervisory responsibilities in a manufacturing environment focused on bleacher and stadium seating systems. You will ensure accurate, code-compliant drawings that support sales, engineering review, fabrication, and customer approvals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Leadership & Supervision:
• Assist in supervising a team of CAD drafters and technicians.
• Assign projects, monitor workloads, and ensure timely completion of submittal packages.
• Provide training, mentoring, and performance feedback to team members.
• Step in as acting supervisor during absences.
• Help enforce department standards, workflows, and best practices.
• AutoCAD Drafting & Technical:
• Create and revise 2D preliminary and submittal drawings in AutoCAD based on architectural plans, specifications, customer requirements, and accessory lists.
• Develop seating layouts, bleacher configurations, telescoping systems, and related structural details to maximize capacity while ensuring code compliance (e.g., egress, accessibility, structural standards).
• Prepare submittal drawing packages for customer and engineering review, including plans, elevations, sections, details, and bill of materials.
• Coordinate with sales, engineering, project management, and fabrication teams to resolve release issues.
• Maintain drawing files, revisions, and archives per company standards.
• Submittals Process Management:
• Oversee the preparation, review, tracking, and submission of drawing packages.
• Manage revision cycles and ensure timely responses to customer or engineer comments.
• Support quality assurance by checking drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance before submission.
• Additional Duties:
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for drafting efficiency and standardization.
• Assist with special projects, templates, or library development in AutoCAD.
• Generate reports on department productivity, backlog, or metrics as needed.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support dealer and installation needs.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Experience: 3–7 years of progressive AutoCAD drafting experience, preferably in construction, manufacturing, architectural metals, or seating/bleacher/stadium products. Prior supervisory or lead experience is strongly preferred.
• Technical Skills:
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) – required.
• Strong understanding of architectural/structural drawings, seating layouts, and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with building codes, ADA/accessibility standards, and structural considerations for bleachers/grandstands is a big plus.
• Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, organizational abilities, problem-solving skills, and clear communication. Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
• Other: Ability to read and interpret blueprints/specifications. Experience with project management or submittal tracking tools is advantageous.

Required Education and Certification:
