What are the responsibilities and job description for the VP, Product position at Korn Ferry?
Purpose of the Position
The Vice President of Product is the enterprise owner of the client’s core deposit and consumer lending portfolios—accountable for turning member and market insight into profitable, compliant, easy-to-use products that advance the client’s mission. Reporting to the CMO, this leader sets the strategic direction for products and pricing, then drives execution end-to-end: from opportunity sizing and business casing through configuration, testing, launch, and continuous improvement. The VP balances strategy with sleeves-rolled delivery—capable of reviewing core-system parameters, leading UAT, and validating go-lives—to ensure what is launched matches what was envisioned and delivers measurable outcomes for members and the organization.
The role orchestrates a cross-functional operating rhythm across Finance (pricing, forecasting, ROI), Risk/Fraud and Compliance/Legal (UDAAP-safe design and controls), Operations, Digital/IT (build/config/integration), Deposit, Lending and Marketing (positioning, go-to-market, and steering communications). The VP chairs/partners in Product and Pricing Steering to gain alignment on roadmaps and economics and is accountable for 30/60/90-day post-launch reporting (units, balances, contribution margin, fee/interchange yield, loss/fraud, and member impact). Vendor relationships are a force multiplier: the VP is the product-side owner for Visa (8-year agreement) and advisory/enablement partners (e.g., Cornerstone Advisors, StrategyCorps), leveraging contracts, marketing funds, and roadmaps to accelerate delivery.
Near-term, the VP will ship and scale the 2026 roadmap: (1) implement Courtesy Pay/Overdraft by March 2026 with compliant member treatment and clear adoption/impact targets; (2) standardize the Personal Line of Credit with modern features and eligibility; and (3) refresh checking propositions to grow profitable primary relationships. Success is defined by disciplined product economics (healthy cost of funds and pricing elasticity management), improved primary checking penetration and activation, strong risk outcomes (fraud/loss ratios within guardrails), and a repeatable product-ops cadence that raises the team’s velocity and quality. Leading a lean team (Deposits, Lending, Analyst) and modeling the client’s values—Results, Agility, Ownership, Integrity, Belonging—the VP builds a culture that turns ideas into shipped value for NYC members.
Key Responsibilities
- Portfolio Strategy & Roadmap: Own multi-year portfolio plans for deposits (checking/savings/MM/CDs) and consumer lending (PLOC/LOC/overdraft), aligned to growth and profitability goals.
- Pricing & P&L: Build business cases (units/balances, APY/APR, fee/interchange yield, loss/fraud assumptions), recommend pricing and fee structures, and deliver quarterly ROI actuals vs. plan to the Product and Pricing Steering Committees.

- Performance & Reporting: Establish KPIs for every launch; deliver 30/60/90 post-launch updates (units, balances, contribution margin, loss/fraud, member impact).
- Vendor & Partner Management: Serve as product lead for card and advisory partners (e.g., Visa, Cornerstone Advisors, StrategyCorps); govern contracts, SLAs, marketing funds, and joint roadmaps.
- Risk & Compliance: Ensure UDAAP-safe designs; partner with Compliance, Legal, and Risk/Fraud on policies, disclosures, and controls—especially for Courtesy Pay/Overdraft and LOC.
- Team Leadership: Coach a lean team; build product analytics and product-ops rituals (intake → discovery → build → test → launch → learn).
