Position Overview
The firm is seeking an Accounting Manager. This is a unique opportunity to join an entrepreneurial team environment where the successful candidate will have the opportunity to expand responsibilities over time and contribute meaningfully to the continued growth and evolution of the platform.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Interpret fund agreements to determine implications for financial reporting and partner capital accounting requirements
- Prepare and review journal entries for equity funds using the firm’s fund accounting software (Investran)
- Prepare and review hypothetical waterfall calculations to ensure accurate allocation of income between investors and the general partner
- Prepare and review fund-level financial statements.
- Prepare and review required financial statement footnotes; draft new footnotes that clearly and accurately describe business arrangements
- Prepare and review investor-level capital account statements
- Prepare and review capital call and distribution calculations, including waterfall calculations
- Prepare and review management fee computations
- Review intercompany invoices
- Continuously evaluate and improve reporting processes to enhance efficiency and scalability as business needs evolve
- Develop a deep understanding of Investran functionality and identify opportunities to increase operational effectiveness
- Oversee daily fund accounting activities of accounting associates and analysts, including monitoring and responding to investor servicing requests
- Manage the annual financial statement audit process
Qualifications
- Minimum of seven years of progressive professional experience
- Prior audit experience within the financial services group of a nationally recognized public accounting firm is required
- Experience with private equity partnership accounting and allocations (including carried interest) strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA designation (or progress toward completion) preferred
