KORE1, a nationwide provider of staffing and recruiting solutions, has an immediate opening for an Electrical Hardware Engineer IV - PCB Design - RF, Wi-FI, & high-speed ethernet design
We are looking to hire a talented and hardworking Hardware Engineer to develop, design, and support our handheld network testing products. You will work across multiple products simultaneously and collaborate closely with software, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineering teams. This role includes ownership of embedded hardware subsystems, high‑speed networking interfaces, RF/Wi‑Fi modules, and next‑generation product development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Design and develop embedded hardware subsystems for handheld network testing products, including ARM‑based CPU subsystems, measurement subsystems, and high‑speed networking interfaces (up to 10Gbps).
- Perform schematic design and oversee PCB layout (executed by third‑party partners), ensuring signal integrity, power integrity, and manufacturability.
- Develop hardware systems that include circuit boards, processors, memory subsystems (including DDR5), LCDs, touch screens, rechargeable batteries, and high‑speed network interfaces.
- Design analog circuits for low‑voltage power supplies, USB power delivery, battery charging, and measurement systems for resistance and PoE parameters.
- Integrate and support FPGA logic (Altera/Intel or AMD), including VHDL‑based packet processing and reuse of existing FPGA designs.
- Collaborate with software developers during board bring‑up and system debugging.
- Work closely with mechanical engineering on handheld device constraints, including thermal management, heat‑sink design, and overall form factor.
- Partner with contract manufacturers (primarily in California) to resolve PCB/PCBA build questions and sign off on final board designs.
- Create hardware design specifications, documentation, and component selection criteria for new products.
- Specify new parts, vendors, and schematic symbols; evaluate chipsets and components during early design phases.
- Support supply chain teams with component lifecycle management, including end‑of‑life redesigns, alternative qualifications, and last‑time‑buy decisions.
- Interface with PLM systems for component control and bill‑of‑materials accuracy.
- Support currently shipping products by troubleshooting component issues, product failures, and customer escalations (thermal issues, drop failures, field bugs, etc.).
- Work with test engineering to define factory test fixture requirements and ensure high first‑pass yields (95% ).
- Conduct early thermal modeling, bench testing, and chamber testing to validate thermal solutions.
- Apply power‑reduction techniques to extend battery life in handheld devices.
- Support EMI/ESD compliance pre‑scans and collaborate with external labs for FCC, CE, and global certification requirements.
- Participate in global product releases across North America, EMEA, APAC, and other regions.
- Ramp quickly in the first 90 days to begin schematic design for next‑generation products, following established design milestones.
