Summary/Objective
The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for owning production scheduling and machine planning in line with customer demand, shipment requirements, and available manufacturing capacity. This role will also work to optimize the production processes, coordinate and oversee the planning and scheduling of production activities within a manufacturing facility. Their goal is to ensure that production processes run smoothly, efficiently, and in line with company objectives and customer demands.
Key Responsibilities
· Create and maintain the production plan based on demand, confirmed orders, shipment requirements, and machine capacity.
· Build daily and weekly machine schedules and sequences to support on-time delivery.
· Prioritize overlapping orders by weighing customer commitments, constraints, and feasibility.
· React quickly to schedule changes and machine constraints; communicate updates to all key departments.
· Monitor bottlenecks, plan adherence, machine loading, and schedule risk; escalate recovery actions.
· Develop and maintain Excel-based or other scheduling tools that improve visibility and decisions.
· After the process is stable, expand into raw material and chemical planning using schedule, safety stock, and lead times.
· Support workflow analysis, bottleneck review, and practical process improvements.
· Contribute to cost reduction, productivity, and efficiency initiatives.
· Participate in time studies, labor standard review, and selected lean activities when needed.
· Assist with broader industrial engineering analyses as plant priorities allow.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates both in an office environment and spends time on the production floor. This role routinely will be exposed to conditions inside the plant such as noise from machinery, moving mechanical parts and variable temperatures depending on the season.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. In this role, a successful candidate must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time on the production floor. They must also be able to lift 25- 40lbs occasionally. There will be frequent bending, reaching, climbing and stooping. To align with safety standards, they must be able to wear PPE including safety glasses, protective footwear and hearing protection.
Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Standard Hours of work are Monday through Friday, approximately 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 40 hours per week with the possibility of some work outside of normal hours.
Travel
There will be little to no travel for this role.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- 2–5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- 2–5 years of experience in with planning or production scheduling
- Experience with process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production systems
- Moderate knowledge of Microsoft Office
Preferred Experience
Required education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- 5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- 5 years of experience in with planning or production scheduling
- Strong experience with process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production systems
- Moderate knowledge of ERP systems, such as SAP, S2K, Oracle, etc.
