Summary/Objective
The function of the Plant Mechanic is to repair and maintain the plant machinery and support equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all assigned Twisting and Weaving machines operate safely, efficiently and reliably, to include routine mechanical repairs and service.
- Maintain and make repairs to winders and re-spool machines.
- Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance on all converting production machinery and support equipment.
- Assist maintenance personnel with problems pertaining to plant production and support equipment as needed.
- Responsible for replacement of parts used on jobs according to established procedures.
- Help to maintain parts inventory
- Help to maintain a Safe and Healthy workplace.
- Work in Treating as needed to perform Maintenance, PM’s, assist with emergencies, and fill in for shift mechanics.
- Maintain all production vehicles, forklifts, tuggers and pallet-jacks
- Perform general plant maintenance.
- Assist in 5S and TPM assignments.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Assist other Maintenance Personnel with shutdown work, projects, etc.
- Perform other related duties assigned by supervisor.

Work Environment
This job requires working at various locations throughout the facility. This role will be working around production equipment in varying temperatures and conditions.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job will require the use of hand and power tools. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift to 45 pounds. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, stretch, kneel, and assume awkward positions as is dictated by worksite. Must be able to work in varying temperatures up to 110 degrees and a dusty environment.
Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Standard Hours of work are based on the Shift of Hire. 1st Shift – 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 2nd Shift – 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., 3rd Shift – 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Monday through Saturday, normally 40 hours per week, may be required to work overtime to cover shifts or to complete required maintenance work, to include holidays, weekends, plant shutdowns and after hours.
Required Education and Experience
- Requires 1 year prior work experience in industrial maintenance.
- Has the knowledge of the methods, practices, tools and equipment of trade.
Preferred Experience
- 3 years prior work experience in industrial maintenance.
- A strong understanding of the principles and theory of Electricity and Mechanics.
