What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Helper position at Koppers?
The time frame for this help will not be earlier than May 1 and ending no later than October 1. Candidates will be at least eighteen (18) years of age and enrolled in school for the upcoming semester, in good health and physically able to handle manual labor in a hot environment. Those hired must withstand a physical exam and drug screen.
Dependents of employees will be given first consideration. These summer help employees will be temporary and not be part of the labor agreement. No benefits will be provided and no overtime will be provided. In the event that any full-time employees are on lay-off status, there will be no temporary employees hired. In the event there is a lay-off during their employment for any reason, they will be removed from work.
The summer employees will not be assigned to any production work. They will perform such tasks as, but not limited to:
Grass Cutting
Weed Eating
General Plant Clean Up
Painting and Housecleaning work involved in painting
Trash Removal and odd jobs, etc.
Demonstrates acceptable retention level for the required training elements.
Pass pre-employment medical screening.
Authorized as a permit confined space attendant and/or entrant.
Willingness to work outdoors.
Preferred
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
