Job Responsibilities
TheHeavy Equipment/Diesel Engine Mechanicis responsibleforinspecting, repairing, andmaintaininglarge machinery used in various industries, ensuring theyoperateefficiently and safelyas well asresponsibleforinspecting,diagnosing,andrepairingdieselloweredvehiclesandmachinery,ensuringtheyoperateefficientlyandsafely.Position reportsto the Plant Managerandhasno supervisory responsibilities.
Conducts regular inspections and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment, including bulldozers, cranes, and excavators, to ensureoptimalperformance and safety; performs diagnostic tests on diesel engines and vehicles toidentifyissues anddeterminenecessary repairs.
Uses computerized diagnostic equipment toidentifymechanical issues and performs routine maintenance and major repairs on engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and other critical systems
Works closely with operators, mechanics, and technicians to diagnose equipment issues,providemaintenance guidance, and develop repair plans
Maintains detailed andaccuraterecords of all preventive maintenance (PM) performed for compliance andtrackingpurposes.
Testdrivevehiclesafterrepairstoensuretheyarefunctioningcorrectlyandsafely.Inspect machines, engines,transmissionsetc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues.
Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability
Order andmaintainnecessary parts for equipment repairs
Collaborate/communicate with Plant Manager and General Yard Foreman on equipment repairs/downtime for planning of yard operations
Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve themin a timely manner
Perform thorough maintenance on machinery,equipmentand systems
Maintain all safety devices and systems on equipmentin accordance withregulations and Koppers Zero Harm principles
Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components
Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery
Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users
Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g.repair of hydraulic systems, paintingvehiclesetc.)
Follow safety protocols andmaintaina clean and safe workspace, adhering to local and national regulations
CandidateQualifications/ Requirements
Required:
3-5 years'Heavy Equipment Mechanic and Diesel
Repairexperiencerequired.
Along with knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Certificate from Tech school or equivalent work experience
Must have a valid driver's license
Must have great attention to detail
Basic computer skills
Ability to work with various machines and tools
Experience working in small teams
Knowledge ofvarious typesof heavy equipment
Very strongmechanical knowledge
Ability to fill out logs on all equipment worked on
KnowledgeonOSHA regulationspertaining tothis position
Must have a safety-first mindset
Preferred:
Welding experiencepreferred
Extensive safety training
Physical&WorkRequirement
Must be ableto stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel,crouchor crawl and talk or hear.
Must be able to work in all outside weather conditions (wet, hot, cold)
Able to work with a moderate noise level
Ability to create 20-30 plus pounds of pressure, sometimes above shoulder level
Ability to climb in tight spots
PPE includes, but not limited tostealtoed boots,heat-resistant gloves, protective mask,ear plugsand,safety glasses
Ability tolift upto 50lbs
