Position Overview
We are seeking two associate attorneys to join our DC/Maryland office in Friendship Heights and our Virginia office in Fairfax. The ideal candidate is a driven trial lawyer with several years of personal injury experience who is ready to take on significant responsibility in an active, trial-oriented practice. We offer a hybrid work environment but request a minimum of three in-office days per week.
Qualifications
- Active DC, Maryland, and/or Virginia bar membership (required)
- 2–6 years of experience in personal injury litigation — experience on either the plaintiff or defense side will be considered
- Deposition experience — both defending and taking depositions
- Working knowledge of litigation procedure, including discovery, motions practice, and case management in DC/MD/VA state and federal courts
- Trial experience — the candidate should have participated in at least one trial through verdict (first-chair experience is a plus but not required)
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Ability to manage a caseload independently while collaborating with partners and support staff
- Commitment to representing individuals, not insurance companies
Responsibilities
- Manage a docket of personal injury cases from intake through resolution
- Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, and trial memoranda
- Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and experts
- Represent clients at hearings, arbitrations, and mediations
- Second-chair and eventually first-chair jury trials
- Conduct legal research and develop case strategy
- Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, and courts
