Position Summary

Kooima Ag® is seeking a Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for setting up and operating CNC laser-cutting equipment to produce high-quality steel components accurately, efficiently, and safely. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to producing quality work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The Laser Operator will read and interpret work orders, monitor machine performance, inspect finished parts, and work closely with team members to ensure production and quality goals are met. Previous experience operating CNC or laser-cutting machines is preferred, but we are willing to train motivated individuals who have a strong work ethic and a desire to learn.

This position plays a key role in producing precision components for agricultural equipment used by farmers across North America.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC laser-cutting equipment to produce parts according to work orders and production schedules.
  • Read and interpret work orders, production documents, and part specifications.
  • Load and unload raw materials and finished parts safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Inspect completed parts to ensure they meet quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Unload cut parts from the laser, sort and label components, and stage materials for downstream manufacturing processes
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and daily inspections.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions, material issues, and quality concerns.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding production status and workflow needs.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE.
  • Assist with continuous improvement efforts to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, production documents and understand tolerances.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and work effectively with others.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new processes and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety focused.

Preferred:

  • Experience operating CNC or laser-cutting machines.
  • Experience operating manufacturing equipment used in agricultural or heavy-equipment fabrication.
  • Experience working with metal fabrication processes.
  • Familiarity with measuring tools (calipers, angle gauges, tape, etc.) and basic quality inspections.
  • Forklift or overhead crane experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely handle raw materials and finished products.
  • Ability to operate machinery safely in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and work around manufacturing equipment.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
