JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of this program is to provide in-home respite services with behavioral supports, relieving parents, family members, and caregivers of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities from the responsibility of providing care, while ensuring the individual’s specialized behavioral needs are met. Standard in-home respite is at times insufficient, as some individuals engage in challenging behaviors, including severe self-care deficits, social-communicative challenges, and problematic behavior. In these cases, the Behavior Technician (Paraprofessional) provides non-medical respite care while implementing behavior intervention strategies designed to reduce challenging behavior and increase basic daily living skills.
The Behavior Technician (Paraprofessional) practices under the direct supervision of a certified Behavior Analyst and implements instructional and environmental modifications to produce socially significant improvements in the individual’s behavior through skill acquisition and behavior reduction.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participating in scheduled supervision, planning, teaming, and coordination with other service providers, when applicable
  • Utilizing approved non-violent crisis strategies consistent with the approved crisis management plan
  • Verifying service delivery through the agency’s Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) process
