Job Title: Planner / Scheduler
Location: Orange, CA | Onsite
Employment Type: Contract | 4 Months
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Compensation: $33.00 – $38.00 per hour
Job Summary:
The Planner/Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules to support monthly on-time delivery goals. This role manages production planning within the ERP system, including launching and tracking work orders, monitoring inventory, and adjusting schedules as needed. The Planner/Scheduler works closely with internal teams to communicate updates on materials, production status, and order timelines while supporting overall production operations and is well suited for someone who can work with minimal supervision, collaborate within a team environment, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and publish production schedules to support monthly shipment commitments
- Manage production planning within the ERP system, including launching work orders to the shop and adjusting schedules as needed
- Verify and manage raw material, hardware, multi-level production, and finished goods inventory while communicating material shortages to the Purchasing Manager
- Maintain the integrity of ERP production planning in collaboration with the Production Control Manager
- Monitor and manage the status of all active work orders in production
- Update and present production and milestone charts in weekly line walks
- Communicate with the Production Control Manager regarding order schedule changes and delays
- Perform PO contract reviews within the production queue
- Communicate with the Sales Department regarding due dates, recovery timelines, delays, and order holds
- Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to release parts from MRP and resolve holds, including coordinating work order splits and adding rework operations as needed
- Manage the Work to Start Report to ensure that work orders are being launched on time
- Provide backup support to the shipping department, assisting with shipment documentation and scheduling, including data packs, certifications of conformance, ASNs, and customer portal updates
- Promote a safe work environment by adhering to company safety policies and procedures at all times
- Prepare and maintain various reports as required, including backlog reports, customer status updates, metrics, and update sheets
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers
- Perform other duties assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum of 3 years of production planning experience using an ERP system
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Working knowledge of MRP/ERP database applications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic math skills
- Computer proficiency
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to respond with sensitivity to people of diverse perspectives
Preferred:
- Experience in the aerospace industry
- Higher education
- Intermediate or advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Sitting at a computer with dual monitors and performing frequent data entry of alphanumeric information for approximately 50% of the time
- Regular use of hands and fingers to handle and feel objects, along with the ability to communicate effectively by talking and hearing
- Occasional standing and walking
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds unassisted and push light, bulky items using a rolling cart
- Attentiveness and adherence to safety practices when working around moving materials
- Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are required
- Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and vibration
- Noise level in the work environment is typically moderate
Pay: $33.00 - $38.00 per hour
