Planner/Scheduler, Senior
(Production Control)
JOB DIMENSIONS:
Job Summary:
Under limited supervision, receives incoming production orders and prepares job
scheduling, queuing orders, prepares manifest of shipments between company sites, and
maintains expedite log sheet for priority job scheduling; and performs related duties, as
required.
Reports to:
Production Control Manager
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Stays current with software development, provides on-site technical expertise for the ERP system;
- Identifies software procedural improvements to operations process to eliminate waste and present recommendation(s) to management team;
- Reviews part availability, special customer requirements, and quality instructions prior to insure all is achieved without delay of customer order;
- Reviews and recommends demand forecast changes to management as market changes;
- Processes pick list following the Customer Pick List Procedure;
- Processes transfer orders pick list following the Transfer Order Pick List Procedure;
- Reviews & processes customer requests daily;
- Processes emergency rush orders following the Emergency Rush Order Procedure;
- Checks high visibility customer orders;
- Processes change orders following the Change Order Procedure;
- Processes order verifications following the Order Verification Procedure;
- Processes transfer orders following the Transfer Orders Procedure;
- Checks new orders for projected dates which are over 30 days out;.
- Processes ECOs;
- Reviews and processes BOM errors as needed;
- Reviews scrap parts for replacement;
- Reviews Griswold Casting Unallocated Report for possible cancellation;
- Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in compliance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position; and
- Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:
Any combination equivalent of, but not limited to, the following:
Experience/Training/Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management preferred, or equivalent experience, and minimum of five years’ experience in production control methods, scheduling and manufacturing processes required;
- Experience with and a demonstrable knowledge of ERP/MRP system(s);
- Proven experience in a senior planning role;
- APICS preferred; and
- Supervisory experience a plus.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods;
- Knowledge of production management and material control system applications and software programs;
- Knowledge of expediting control system applications and software programs;
- Knowledge of expediting methods and techniques;
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and various departmental representatives;
- Ability to monitor and coordinate assignment of work orders to meet production and delivery schedules;
- Ability to follow work center dispatch and expediting status records;
- Ability to prepare and maintain production status, expediting, and work order records;
- Computer literate;
- Knowledge of inventory control practices;
- Fluent in Microsoft Office suite;
- Demonstrable excellent interpersonal communication skills;
- Strong organization and problem-solving skills;
- Strong team player; and
- Must be detail oriented.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, filing cabinets, photocopiers and other office equipment, as applicable;
- Most work tasks are performed indoors where temperature is moderate and controlled by office environment systems;
- Ability to work (sit and/or stand) at a desk for majority of the work day; walking and/or standing may be required for the remainder of the work day. Length of time performing these physical requirements may vary from day to day and task to task.
- Requires grasping, writing, sitting, standing, walking, repetitive motions, pulling, pushing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.

The pay range represents the low and high ends of the salary range we reasonably expect to pay for this position at the time of posting. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, education, skills, qualifications, performance, and business or organizational needs.
