Senior Transmission Line Estimator
Minneapolis, MN | Direct Hire | $120,000–$170,000 Bonus & Profit Sharing
Konik is partnering with a well-respected, locally based construction firm seeking a Senior Transmission Line Estimator to their team. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for an experienced estimator with strong transmission line and high-voltage construction experience. Candidates with backgrounds in utility, EPC, power delivery, or high-voltage transmission construction are strongly encouraged to apply. You will be responsible for managing the full estimating process for major projects while contributing to process improvement and proposal strategy across the group.
Senior Transmission Line Estimator Responsibilities
- Lead estimating for transmission line projects, including substation and high-voltage distribution work, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project scope and budget.
- Develop conceptual and detailed estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
- Collaborate with Sales Engineers, Project Managers, and design teams to translate project requirements into complete, competitive proposals.
- Review project plans, specifications, and supporting documents to identify cost drivers, risks, and opportunities for value engineering.
- Maintain historical project data and cost models to improve accuracy and standardization across estimates.
- Mentor junior estimators and support the development of estimating tools and workflows.
- Travel periodically within the region for site visits, client meetings, and project reviews.
Senior Transmission Line Estimator Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in transmission line estimating; utility, EPC, or high-voltage construction backgrounds highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop estimates independently for multi-million-dollar projects ($50M–$300M).
- Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software (Bid2Win, ISqFt, On-Screen Takeoff, Excel, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and materials used in high-voltage transmission projects.
- Experience coordinating with contractors, subcontractors, and design teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness travel periodically, as required.
- Bachelor’s or Associate's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field strongly preferred.
