You will troubleshoot equipment issues, generate accurate repair quotes, and complete assigned tasks efficiently within flat-rate times. We are seeking a skilled Shop Technician for our Salt Lake City dealership location to deliver high-quality component repairs, testing, and failure analysis on construction machinery. You will troubleshoot equipment issues, generate accurate repair quotes, and complete assigned tasks efficiently within flat-rate times. Working safely and cleanly according to regulatory guidelines, you will also manage work orders, parts requests, and diagnostic records through digital service databases.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Complete assigned jobs and task to meet flat rate times and re-do metric.
- Work safely and follow all KEC/Customer safety policies and procedures.
- Complete related paperwork and access databases require to complete job (work order, parts order, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW) accurately and timely.
- Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
- Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies with minimal supervision.
- Ability to provide accurate quotes and pricing estimates to the customer.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs.
- Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
- Apply general failure analysis and procedures to determine proper diagnosis.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Associate Degree in Diesel Technology or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Knowledge of database software, Internet software, manufacturing software and order processing systems
- Uses intuition and experience to complement data
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner
- Responds promptly to customer needs
- Prioritizes and plans work activities
- Reacts well under pressure; accepts responsibility for own actions; follows through on commitments
- Meets productivity standards; completes work in a timely manner
- Observes safety procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions
