Job Site: Transportation
Hours/Days: 40 hours per week, 260 days (12 months)
Hourly Rate: $20.25 per hour (commensurate with training and experience)

Responsibilities:
The mechanic will satisfactorily perform preventive maintenance and make repairs to school buses in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as best practices and Indiana State Police inspection standards. Corporation vehicles (non-bus) will also be repaired and maintained. Bus changes and road calls will be performed as needed. Functions as a standby substitute bus driver as needed and other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in heavy duty mechanics, and experience in using diagnostic equipment.
- Posses an Indiana Class B Commercial Driver’s License with public passenger, school bus and air brake endorsements, or be willing to obtain one.
- ASE School Bus Technician certifications or other school bus mechanics training are a plus.
Working conditions include work in both hot and cold areas. Daily duties vary but include periods of strenuous work and extended periods of standing. The employee will frequently be required to work around or with equipment or in areas that are uncomfortably loud. The employee must be able to work safely with chemicals and cleaners including following procedures and using personal protective equipment when required. The employee will be required to work hands-on using power and hand tools to perform manual tasks and operate equipment. The employee is regularly required to bend, stoop, twist, climb, squat, kneel, reach, push, pull, carry and be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
