POSITION SUMMARY
The Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing agricultural and turf equipment to the highest standard of quality and customer satisfaction.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on agricultural, turf, compact construction and handheld equipment.
- Complete assigned repair work in accordance with the approved estimate and schedule; communicate proactively with the Service Manager if deadlines or scope change.
- Maintain accurate time records by work segment and submit completed work order details.
- Identify and recommend additional service or maintenance work to maximize machine uptime, reduce customer downtime, and extend equipment life.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment condition, recommended services, and repair status.
- Ensure all parts used are properly billed and unused parts are promptly returned to the parts department.
- Perform field service calls and off-site repairs as required.
- Assist in maintaining dealership facilities, tools, and company fixed assets.
- Participate in assigned OEM and Koenig training programs to include completion of the John Deere Certified Technician pathway.
- Perform other duties as assigned by designated Leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Technical school degree or equivalent hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems repair. Relevant equipment experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of John Deere and other OEM product lines, including diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and precision agriculture technology (or ability to quickly develop this knowledge through assigned training).
- Ability to use business systems and dealership management software.
- Proficiency in operating vehicles and equipment required for the role, including service trucks.
- Valid driver’s license- Class A CDL preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is performed in a shop environment and in the field at customer locations.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, and seasonal agricultural environments.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required per dealership safety policy.
- Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
