Full Job Description Human Resources Manager (Onsite – Minneapolis, MN)

Koehler & Dramm is seeking a hands-on Human Resources Manager to lead and execute all aspects of the HR function in a fast-paced environment. This role is responsible for employee relations, compliance, recruiting, payroll, benefits, and supporting a strong workplace culture.

This position serves as both a strategic partner and operational leader, working closely with management while also handling day-to-day HR responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

HR Operations & Employee Support

  • Manage daily HR operations to ensure efficiency and compliance
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and issue resolution
  • Maintain accurate and compliant personnel records
  • Promote a positive employee experience

Employee Relations & Performance Management

  • Partner with managers on employee relations, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions
  • Provide coaching and guidance on performance management and employee development
  • Support performance reviews and implement performance improvement plans
  • Foster a culture of accountability and engagement

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Administer PFMLworkers’ compensation, and other leave programs
  • Maintain and update HR policies and procedures
  • Represent the company in audits, investigations, and hearings

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting across all departments
  • Partner with leadership on workforce planning
  • Conduct onboarding and new hire orientation
  • Manage temporary labor staffing and related invoicing

Payroll, Compensation & Benefits

  • Process and oversee bi-weekly payroll
  • Maintain payroll records and respond to employee inquiries
  • Administer benefits, including 401(k) and vendor coordination
  • Analyze and recommend improvements to compensation and benefits programs

Engagement & Culture

  • Plan and coordinate employee events and engagement initiatives
  • Support employee retention and morale efforts
  • Help build a collaborative, team-oriented work environment

Leadership & Administration

  • Participate in management meetings and provide HR insight
  • Supervise administrative staff as needed
  • Manage vendor relationships and reconcile invoices
  • Recommend improvements to HR processes and policies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive HR experience
  • Minimum 1 year of payroll experience
  • Experience with PFML, workers’ compensation, and compliance
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR)
  • Leadership experience
  • Experience in a fast-paced or warehouse environment

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally
