Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Fire Alarm Superintendent to lead field operations for a major industrial construction project in Phoenix.

This position carries responsibility for field staffing, installation execution, safety, quality, productivity, and schedule performance across the assigned fire alarm scope. The successful candidate will have a proven record of leading multiple crews, developing field supervisors, and delivering complex installations through testing and turnover.

Working directly with company ownership and project management, you will help establish and expand our Phoenix field organization. An Assistant Superintendent / Field Coordinator with electrical field experience will support daily operations under your leadership and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own daily field execution, aligning manpower, materials, equipment, and installation sequencing with project milestones.
  • Develop staffing plans, establish crew assignments, and manage Foremen, Technicians, Helpers, and supporting field personnel.
  • Help recruit and evaluate qualified personnel as manpower requirements increase.
  • Establish clear reporting relationships, production targets, and accountability for field performance.
  • Develop the Assistant Superintendent and Foremen through delegation, coaching, and consistent performance feedback.
  • Review IFC drawings, approved shop drawings, specifications, and submittals. Resolve field constraints and coordinate required clarifications through project management.
  • Maintain look-ahead schedules, monitor labor productivity, and develop recovery plans when progress falls behind.
  • Coordinate material requirements, deliveries, staging, and work-area readiness with purchasing and project management.
  • Represent the field team in coordination meetings with the client/GC, other trades, vendors, safety personnel, and QA/QC teams.
  • Maintain accurate manpower reports, installed quantities, progress records, redlines, and documentation supporting field changes.
  • Enforce site safety requirements, installation standards, housekeeping, and professional conduct.
  • Lead installation readiness for inspections, pretesting, commissioning support, punch-list completion, final acceptance, and turnover.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of commercial or industrial electrical and fire alarm field experience, including substantial hands-on fire alarm installation experience.
  • At least 3 years as a Superintendent, Senior Foreman, or comparable leader responsible for multiple crews.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan manpower, supervise field leaders, and manage complex construction scopes through completion.
  • Strong knowledge of fire alarm installation, including conduit and raceways, cable installation, devices, terminations, labeling, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to interpret construction documents and translate project requirements into executable field plans.
  • Working knowledge of applicable NFPA 72 and NEC requirements.
  • Experience coordinating with GC teams, inspectors, safety and QA/QC personnel, system vendors, and other trades.
  • Sound field judgment, clear communication, and the ability to operate independently within established project requirements.
  • Availability to work on site in Phoenix, Arizona.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience on semiconductor, manufacturing, mission critical, data center, healthcare, or institutional projects.
  • A record of recruiting, building, and expanding field teams during active construction.
  • An established network of qualified electrical and fire alarm personnel in the Phoenix market.
  • NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level II or higher, OSHA 30 training, and applicable equipment qualifications.
  • Experience with formal GC procedures for safety, quality control, document management, commissioning, and closeout.

Leadership and Growth

We expect a leader who takes ownership, anticipates constraints, and develops practical solutions. Success requires respectful supervision, timely communication, and consistent follow through on safety, quality, and production commitments.

This role offers direct involvement with company leadership and the opportunity to help shape our Phoenix field operations. As project needs and the industrial workload expand, strong performance may lead to broader responsibility for multiple projects, workforce development, and field operations leadership.
