Warehouse Manager

Position Summary

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the efficient receipt, storage, inventory control, and distribution of food, supplies, and donated goods that support the organization's food service operations. This position ensures inventory accuracy, food safety compliance, and timely delivery of products to kitchens at 418, Serenity and New Life. The Warehouse Manager plays a critical role in supporting the organization's mission by maintaining organized warehouse operations and maximizing stewardship of donated and purchased resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations

• Receive, inspect, and document incoming deliveries from our drivers, vendors, donors, and partner organizations.
• Verify quantities and quality of products received against purchase orders and invoices.
• Organize and maintain warehouse, coolers, freezers, and dry storage areas.
• Ensure products are stored according to food safety, Knox Co. Health Department and inventory management standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment.

Inventory Management

• Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs with kitchen director.
• Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
• Track product movement and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Manage stock rotation using First In, First Out (FIFO) principles.
• Minimize waste through proper inventory control and product handling.

Compliance and Safety

• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety regulations.
• Maintain compliance with health department standards and organizational policies.
• Monitor storage temperatures and maintain required documentation.
• Report damaged products, equipment concerns, and safety hazards promptly.

Mission Support

• Demonstrate commitment to the organization's mission and values.
• Interact professionally with donors, volunteers, staff, clients, and community partners.
• Assist in training and supervising volunteers assigned to warehouse operations.
• Support special events, food drives, and fundraising activities as needed.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or related coursework preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of warehouse, inventory, logistics, food service, or related experience preferred.
• Experience in nonprofit, food bank, catering, or institutional food service environments is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory management practices.
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation requirements.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Proficiency with inventory software, spreadsheets, and basic computer applications.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
• Ability to work in warehouse, cooler, and freezer environments.
• Ability to operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other warehouse equipment safely.

Preferred Certifications

• Food Handler Certification or ServSafe Certification.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
