Position: Database Engineer

Knowesis is seeking a highly skilled Database Engineer to design, develop, and optimize secure, scalable database solutions supporting the DoD OIG’s mission. This role contributes to cloud modernization, data migration, and application sustainment efforts across classified and unclassified environments.
To be eligible for this position, candidates must possess U.S. Citizenship without the need for sponsorship, both now and in the future. Applicants without proof of U.S. Citizenship will not be considered due to the position’s security clearance requirements.
The Job Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Overview: The Database Engineer designs, develops, and optimizes database solutions to support enterprise applications and analytics. This role focuses on engineering new systems and enhancing performance—not routine maintenance.
- Architect and implement database solutions supporting enterprise applications and analytics
- Develop data models, schemas, stored procedures, and ETL pipelines
- Optimize performance through indexing, partitioning, and query tuning
- Lead cloud migration and modernization initiatives
- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams on integration and sustainment
- Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity and RMF standards
- Document engineering processes and configuration baselines
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- 7 years of experience in database engineering or development
- Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and database platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
- Experience with data modeling tools and performance tuning techniques
- Familiarity with DoD data security and RMF requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
