About the Role

As an Electric Motor Winder, you will be responsible for rewinding, repairing, testing, and rebuilding electric motors, generators, pumps, and other electro-mechanical equipment. You'll work alongside experienced technicians while utilizing industry-leading tools, equipment, and repair processes to deliver high-quality results for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rewind and repair AC and DC motors, generators, wound rotors, alternators, and transformers
  • Record winding data, measurements, and electrical characteristics accurately
  • Perform disassembly, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of electric motors and rotating equipment
  • Apply insulation systems, varnishing techniques, and Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) processes
  • Operate winding machines, surge testers, core-loss testers, bake ovens, and related shop equipment
  • Perform electrical and mechanical testing throughout the repair process
  • Follow established safety procedures and quality standards
  • Assist with training and mentoring less experienced technicians when applicable

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Two or more years of experience in motor winding, motor repair, industrial maintenance, rotating equipment repair, or related mechanical trades
  • Experience with AC/DC motor repair preferred
  • Prior exposure to winding practices is highly desirable but not required for candidates with strong motor repair experience
  • Valid driver's license required
  • CDL and DOT medical card are a plus
  • Experience working in an EASA-accredited shop is preferred but not required

Desired Skills

  • Understanding of electric motors, generators, pumps, and rotating equipment
  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and repair documentation
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Comfortable using computerized work order and documentation systems
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to stand, bend, climb, and perform physical work throughout the day
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial shop environment
