Knob Noster Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, focused, and visionary Retired Air Force Field Grade Commissioned Officer to serve as the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Senior Aerospace Science Instructor, for MO-20052, comprised of 125 high performing cadets from four local high schools for the 2025-2026 school year. The successful candidate will demonstrate diverse professional knowledge, a vision of excellence, a student-centered focus, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
POSITION: Senior Aerospace Science Instructor for the 2025-2026 School Year
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 11 or 12 month contract, pay above Minimum Instructor Pay (MIP), stipend for co-curricular activities, health insurance (employee) provided
QUALIFICATIONS: Retired Field Grade Officer with 20 or more years experience in the military (Active Duty, Air National Guard and/or Air Force Reserves). Previous leadership (supervisory) experience, at least 15 years active duty and Bachelor's Degree required. Extensive knowledge of classroom management and instruction, physical training, drill and ceremonies, and possessing a Master’s Degree, Missouri Teacher’s certification, aviation experience and certified ground school instructor are all highly desired.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Must dynamically instruct the Leadership Education portion of the AFJROTC Curriculum.
- Includes drill/ceremonies, leadership/management, career assessment/development, life/communication skills.
- Develops and implements meaningful assessments of students' understanding of presented material and their growth as future leaders.
- Provides individualized and effective career and performance counseling for cadets.
- Leads and supervises numerous cadet corps co-curricular (before/after school) activities with the intent of providing knowledge and growth opportunities for all cadets.
- Serve as the Primary Military Property Custodian responsible for equipment and uniforms.
- Instructs and manages cadets on appropriate inventory and distribution practices serving the cadet corps.
- Must demonstrate, instruct and manage a high degree of physical fitness and conditioning exercises designed to improve
- cadet health and wellness.
- Must display Air Force Corps Values of Integrity First, Service Before Self and Excellent in all you do.
- Must exemplify a positive image of the Air Force at all times
- Conduct yourself in a highly professional manner, in both words and actions.
- Maintain a professional military appearance in uniform, and comply with all AFJROTC weight and body fat standards.
- Must demonstrate a high degree of emotional intelligence and compassionate human relations and communication skills.
- Must comply with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
- Must fulfill all other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
Working Conditions: Maintain emotional control under stress. Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job. Frequent district, inter/intra-state travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun, heat and cold.
