What are the responsibilities and job description for the Traffic Control Supervisor / Laborer position at Knife River Northwest?
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control devices such as cones, signs, barricades, and flagging stations.
- Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic around job sites using proper flagging techniques.
- Ensure all traffic control setups comply with state and local regulations (MUTCD or equivalent standards).
- Monitor work zones for hazards and adjust traffic control as needed.
- Communicate clearly with crew members, supervisors, and the public.
- Inspect equipment and report on any unsafe conditions.
- Maintain accurate logs, paperwork, and daily reports.
- Provide excellent customer service and always represent the company professionally.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Traffic Control Certification (TCS, or state-required equivalent).
- Ability to stand for long periods, work in varying weather conditions, and lift 25-50 lbs. as needed.
- Strong communication skills and situational awareness.
- Reliable transportation and punctuality.
- Prior traffic control or construction experience preferred but not required
