Position Title: Heavy Equipment Operator II Dozer/Hoe
Location: Shop: Utica, OH – Job Sites: Primarily Central Ohio
Reports To: Commercial Field Manager

Position Summary
The Heavy Equipment Operator II is an experienced operator who can execute large-scale excavation and site development projects with minimal oversight. This position requires a strong understanding of grades, elevations, utility installations, and GPS systems (Topcon or Trimble). The Operator II may also assist in coordinating small crews and ensuring safety and productivity on commercial job sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform mass excavation, grading, trenching, and site preparation for commercial/industrial projects
- Safely operate excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, and compactors
- Accurately set grades and elevations using lasers, grade rods, and GPS systems (Topcon or Trimble)
- Read and interpret blueprints, civil site drawings, and job specifications
- Install utilities (water, sewer, storm systems) and perform backfilling/compaction to spec
- Work efficiently in large open areas and tight urban job sites
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs
- Uphold all OSHA and company safety standards, while promoting safe practices among crew members
- Mentor Level I operators and assist the foreman with daily crew coordination
- Communicate with field managers to resolve issues and ensure project accuracy
Qualifications
- Experience: 3–5 years operating heavy equipment on commercial excavation or site development projects
- Skills: Strong knowledge of grades, utilities, blueprints, and GPS systems (Topcon or Trimble)
- Leadership: Ability to support and mentor Level I operators; assist in coordinating small crews
- License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (MVR required);
- Attributes: Reliable, safety-focused, team-oriented, and able to adapt to changing site conditions
