Role Description:
KMR Construction is looking for an Assistant Estimator & Coordinator to support our estimating and project teams. This position will work directly with our existing Estimator, and will assist with bid preparation, subcontractor communication, project documentation, takeoffs, vendor coordination, and administrative support.
This is a growth-focused role. The goal is to train the right person over a (1–2) year period into a confident, capable commercial construction Estimator. The ideal candidate does not need to know everything on day one, but they must be organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and willing to learn.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with Permitting through local City/County jurisdictions
- Review plans, drawings, and specs
- Assist with quantity takeoffs
- Help clarify project scope
- Contact subcontractors and suppliers
- Request bids and pricing
- Track bid invites and deadlines
- Organize estimate files and drawings
- Assist with bid leveling
- Help prepare proposals to customers
- Coordinate COIs, lien waivers, and subcontracts
- Support closeout document tracking
- Communicate with project teams and vendors
- Learn KMR’s estimating process
- Learn basic AutoCAD functions
- Follow up on missing information (RFI's)
Qualifications:
- (1–2) years of construction, administrative, estimating, project coordination, or related experience preferred
- Strong organization and follow-up skills
- Comfortable working with deadlines and multiple moving parts
- Basic understanding of commercial construction is a plus
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD, Adobe, and general computer systems
- Experience with construction software, takeoff software, or plan reading is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and grow into a larger role
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work well with a team
- Must be comfortable working in an office-based, on-site role in Houston, Texas (Tomball future)
