Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper sterilisation, decontamination, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. Responsibilities
- Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, sterilise, and distribute surgical instruments and medical devices in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Operate sterilisation equipment such as autoclaves and washer-disinfectors, ensuring all processes meet regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilisation cycles, equipment maintenance, and inventory levels.
- Ensure all instruments are correctly packaged and labelled for storage or surgical use.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure timely availability of sterile supplies for procedures.
- Follow strict infection control procedures and safety guidelines at all times.
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues and liaising with maintenance teams when necessary.
Skills
- Previous laboratory or sterile processing experience is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic IT skills for record keeping and utilisation of sterilisation tracking systems.
- Knowledge of biochemistry principles related to sterilisation processes is advantageous.
- Valid driving licence is preferred for transport or supply delivery tasks within the hospital premises.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
