Our law firm is looking for the next associate attorney to assist in providing legal counsel to clients. You will work closely with our senior partners and associates, conduct legal research, draft documents, and maintain client files. Compensation:$75,000 - $90,000 base & bonus
Responsibilities:
- Keep files organized to make sure the most recent updates are accessible to other attorneys, paralegals, and staff
- Analyze conflicts in legal matters, advise clients on solutions, and negotiate on behalf of clients
- Communicate with senior associates, paralegals, and clients to ensure cases are handled efficiently
- Prepare correspondence and legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings
- Conduct legal research, prepare for and attend hearings and/or other legal proceedings, and provide legal counsel with the help of senior associate attorneys
- Conduct in-depth legal research and provide clear, actionable analysis
- Assist in developing and executing case strategy plans
- Draft complex legal documents such as motions, pleadings, orders, memos, and case outlines
- Review and analyze discovery, including identifying gaps and drafting correspondence/motions on discovery disputes
- Communicate with witnesses and gather evidence
- Work with the legal team to move clients' cases forward
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of the bar exam
- Solid communication skills and problem-solving skills required in order to work with clients, staff members and senior attorneys
- Prepared to learn from senior attorneys to meet our client needs and grow our client base
- Has a Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law school
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree required from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in West Virginia
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and organization
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects
- Exceptional communication skills and problem-solving skills
- High level of personal accountability and follow-through
