The Kittery School District is currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Business Manager to lead the financial, operational and administrative functions of our School District.
The Business Manager will collaborate with the school's leadership team to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the district. This position supervises payroll, and accounts payable. Coordinates, assists and completes the budget process with the Superintendent, School Committee, Facilities Director, School Nutrition Director and Special Ed Director. Provides staff training and support to ensure system-wide compliance on all financial matters.
Develops and directs a fiscally responsible program while completing all filings, postings and reports required by the Maine Department of Education and IRS in compliance with the law. Manages insurance benefits, retirement programs and vendor contracts. Administers bidding procedures for all insurance and other vendor contracts as well as other revenue opportunities, as appropriate. The business manager will be part of collective bargaining negotiations and following contract requirements.
Must be able to work independently as well as being a team contributor on all assignments. Candidates must have strong leadership skills and know how to work with a wide variety of stakeholders. You will be interacting with employees, students, parents, community members, town and school district officials as well as contractors and vendors.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting or related field. Experience in a non-profit setting is a must. Required to have advanced excel/spreadsheet knowledge. Experience with Munis/Tyler payroll platform is a plus.
