Kitsap Credit Union is seeking an experienced, strategic Vice President of Accounting to lead a critical function that supports the organization’s financial strength, accuracy, and accountability. This role partners closely with the CFO, executive leadership team, and Board while overseeing financial and regulatory reporting, internal controls, compliance, audit coordination, and key accounting operations.
The ideal candidate brings both technical depth and strategic perspective. This leader will ensure precision in accounting and reporting while strengthening processes, supporting sound decision-making, and helping position the organization for continued growth and success.

What we’re looking for
We are seeking an accomplished accounting executive with deep experience in a financial institution environment, preferably within a credit union or bank. The ideal candidate brings a strong command of GAAP, regulatory reporting, internal controls, CECL, audit coordination, and evolving accounting standards, along with the judgment and executive presence to operate effectively with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
Successful candidates will offer:
- Significant accounting leadership experience within a financial institution
- A track record of leading accurate, compliant, and insightful financial and regulatory reporting
- Experience working directly with auditors, examiners, and executive leadership
- Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, and developing teams
- A process improvement mindset and the ability to optimize systems, tools, and workflows
- The ability to balance strategic thinking with operational follow-through
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA designation highly preferred
- Preference will be given to local candidates with experience in financial institutions

Compensation Range: $178,245 - $235,000 Depending on Experience
Bonus Target: 15% potential incentive of base pay
