Kitchen Guard of Columbus is a growing commercial kitchen exhaust cleaning company serving the Columbus metro area. We clean kitchen hoods, exhaust systems, and ductwork for restaurants, hospitals, universities, corporate campuses, and national chains. We're in our first year and already landing major contracts — and we need to add to our crew to keep up with demand.
This isn't a desk job. You'll be on-site, hands-on, making kitchens safer and keeping businesses fire-code compliant. Your work directly prevents fire hazards, improves air quality, and upholds the highest standards of safety in commercial kitchens. What You'll Do
- Perform detailed cleaning of kitchen exhaust hoods, ducts, fans, filters, and related components using industry-approved tools and techniques
- Inspect exhaust systems for damage, blockages, or wear — identify potential issues before they escalate
- Operate pressure washers, chemical cleaning solutions, and specialized cleaning equipment safely and effectively
- Conduct routine maintenance on fans, motors, and air handling units to ensure optimal operation
- Complete post-clean inspection reports, before/after photo documentation, and compliance records
- Deliver, pick up, and exchange grease filters for commercial clients
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to assess system layouts and troubleshoot mechanical problems
- Drive company vehicle to job sites across the Columbus metro area
- Maintain equipment and keep the vehicle organized and stocked
- Communicate professionally with restaurant managers and facility contacts
- Follow all safety protocols during cleaning activities to prevent accidents or fire hazards
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Valid Ohio driver's license (clean driving record)
- Reliable — you show up on time, every time
- Comfortable working at heights (rooftop fan access) and in tight spaces
- Physically able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work on your feet for extended periods
- Comfortable working nights and weekends (this is when restaurants close)
- Able to pass a background check
- Strong attention to detail — your work directly impacts fire safety
Preferred (not required — we'll train the right person):
- Experience in kitchen exhaust cleaning, hood cleaning, or commercial cleaning
- Background as a service technician, appliance repair tech, or in HVAC/R environments
- Experience with commercial kitchen equipment (fryers, ovens, exhaust systems, refrigeration)
- Experience with pressure washing or industrial cleaning
- Knowledge of construction principles related to ductwork installation and maintenance
- Mechanical aptitude — you can troubleshoot and repair equipment in the field
- Experience with maintenance routines involving air conditioning units or refrigeration systems

About the Schedule
Most commercial kitchen cleanings happen between 9 PM – 5 AM (after restaurants close). Some daytime work for filter exchanges, institutional clients, and corporate accounts. 40 hours/week with overtime available occassionally. We'll work with you on scheduling, but flexibility with nights is a must.
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
