Building Engineer

SK Medical Management is seeking a reliable and skilled Building Engineer to support our high-quality medical office properties. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that our facilities operate safely, efficiently, and to the high standards our physicians, staff, and patients expect.
The Building Engineer will perform a wide range of maintenance and repair duties across building systems, including HVAC controls, plumbing, electrical, and general facility upkeep. Attention to detail, responsiveness, and professionalism are key in providing a “Best in Class” experience to our tenants and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections of all building systems, mechanical equipment, and grounds.
- Complete work orders related to light electrical, plumbing, HVAC control systems, lighting, painting, and carpentry.
- Collaborate with the Property Manager to implement preventive maintenance schedules.
- Respond promptly and professionally to emergency maintenance requests—contain issues and coordinate vendor access when needed.
- Maintain compliance with all safety standards, including MIOSHA/OSHA and building codes.
- Support contractors and service providers during on-site work.
- Manage and track maintenance logs, work orders, and inventory of supplies and tools.
- Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal, landscaping, and heating system preparation.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade certifications preferred.
- 2 years of hands-on experience in commercial or medical office building maintenance.
- Working knowledge of HVAC control systems, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
- Must have experience changing ballasts and Sloan plumbing fixtures.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and schematics preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with sound judgment on when to self-perform versus escalate.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Physical ability to lift, bend, and work in varied environmental conditions.
- Valid driver’s license required.
