Job Overview:
KIPP Atlanta Schools is seeking a dedicated, dynamic and highly experienced Literacy Lab Interventionist to join our team and enhance the reading and writing skills of scholars across various grade levels. Providing direct instruction to scholars daily, the Literacy Lab Interventionist will play a crucial role in developing and implementing effective literacy programs, providing individualized support, and collaborating with educators to promote a culture of literacy within the school community.
Job Responsibilities:
Program Development and Implementation
- Design and implement literacy programs tailored to the needs of students
- Develop and adapt instructional materials and resources to support diverse learning styles and abilities
- Evaluate and revise literacy curriculum and instructional strategies based on student progress and feedback
Instruction and Support
- Provide direct instruction to students in reading and writing, including small group and one-on-one sessions
- Assess students’ literacy levels and identify areas for improvement
- Offer targeted interventions and support to struggling readers and writers
Professional Development
- Train and support teachers in literacy instruction and best practices
- Conduct workshops and seminars on literacy strategies for educators and parents
- Stay current with research and trends in literacy education and integrate new findings into practice
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with classroom teachers, school administrators, and parents to support student literacy development
- Participate in school-wide committees and initiatives related to literacy
- Maintain clear and open communication with stakeholders regarding student progress and literacy initiatives
Assessment and Evaluation
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of literacy programs and interventions
- Analyze student data to guide instructional decisions and report on progress
- Prepare and present reports on literacy outcomes and program effectiveness
Candidate Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Reading, or a related field (required); Master’s degree in Literacy or Reading Education preferred
- State certification or endorsement in Reading or Literacy (required)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in teaching, with a focus on literacy instruction
- Experience developing and implementing literacy programs is highly desirable
- Proven experience working with diverse student populations and addressing a range of literacy needs
- Strong understanding of literacy development and instructional strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze scholar data and use it to inform instruction
- Passionate about literacy and scholar achievement
- Innovative and adaptable, with a commitment to ongoing professional growth
- Collaborative team player with strong problem-solving skills
- Committed to equity through literacy
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation for this role is determined based on the KIPP Atlanta Schools Teacher Pay Scale. KIPP Atlanta Schools offers a competitive benefits package that includes:

Location & Work Conditions:
This position requires candidates to be based in Atlanta and regularly be in schools and able to attend in-person meetings and events. Additional in-person time may be necessary based upon organizational needs.
