What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher's Assistant position at KIOWA MASTER?
Summary/Objective
The Childcare Provider position reports to the Childcare Director and is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally age-appropriate program in accordance with KDHE.
Job Responsibilities
Responsible oversight includes that accountability and assurance is met through the following duties:
Learning Environment
1. Intentionally plan and maintain a positive learning environment both indoors and outdoors that fosters development in motor, cognitive, language, social, emotional, and creative domains.
2. Develop and maintain positive relationships with families.
3. Communicate with parents regarding childs progress through a variety of means, including parent-teacher conferences, electronic written and verbal communication; maintain positive parent partnership
4. Prioritize childrens safety by keeping the children safe in a controlled environment where children are always accounted for, both in visual and auditory range.
5. Develop a monthly newsletter for parents to keep them informed of classroom activities, announcements, important dates, and activities that parents can do at home with their child. Submit newsletter to supervisor for review in accordance with instructions.
6. Include all families cultures in the day-to-day rituals of the classroom and learning environment
7. Prepare materials necessary for implementation of weekly lesson plans, to include written plans and procedures for substitutes use in case of lead teachers absence.
8. Organize physical fitness games to help develop skills such as balance, skipping, hopping, jumping; encourage daily active healthy lifestyle.
9. Create and maintain a positive learning environment in accordance with early childhood standards, regulations, or tools.
Program Management
1. Monitor staff/child ratios at all times.
2. Assist supervisor in purchase requests and suggestions for equipment and materials needed for operation of the program.
Child Assessment
1. Records observations and anecdotal notes on all children on a daily basis to be used in childs assessment.
2. Collect photos and work samples to illustrate emerging abilities and activities of children to be used in childs portfolio.
3. Maintain records of each childs progress and experiences through individualized portfolios according to KDH policies/procedures.
4. Prepare reports to assist in planning for each childs individual needs in lesson plans and to share with parents.
Professional Development
1. Successfully complete required professional education
2. Successfully complete required annual training hours
3. Complete continuing education goals
4. Complete Program Wide and Individual goals as outlined on the Performance Assessment Plan.
Qualifications:18 years of age or older
High School diploma or GED
Ability to work under pressure and with distractions
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with peers, parents, the general public, and individuals at all levels within the organization.
