JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: High School Assistant Volleyball Coach FLSA Status: non-exempt
Reports to: Head Coach & Athletic Director Pay Range: Refer to salary schedule
Prepared/Revised Date: May 12, 2026 Work Year: Pre-season, In-season, off-season
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The assistant coach is responsible for supporting the head coach in leading and managing all aspects of the
athletic team, including developing practice plans, strategizing for games, mentoring student-athletes,
developing sport skills, sportsmanship and promoting a positive team culture.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Understand and comply will all applicable district, state and federal guidelines, policies and laws.
2. Assist in developing team and individual player goals and maintains high expectations for both,
including but not limited to: attend school, passing grades, attend practice and contests, exhibit good
sporting behavior and citizenship. The program is an extension of the classroom.
3. Follow and enforce all CHSAA Bylaws, regulations, policies, philosophies, and administrative directives
as set by the Elbert County School District C-2.
4. Assists in planning in advance and prepares for each contest in an effort to put the team in the best
possible position to be successful.
5. Initiates and takes leadership responsibility over the JV program ensuring their skill development and
growth.
6. Attend all practices and games, unless ill or with advanced notification and approval from the AD.
7. Adhere to district guidelines for building use, access and care of district facilities.
8. Help manage district athletic facilities including cleanliness of locker rooms, courts after each practice
and game, and maintenance to ensure the well-being of student-athletes, students, families and staff.
9. Equipment – Assists in Monitoring safety of all equipment on a daily basis.
10. Equipment - Assists in caring for, inventorying, and preparing all equipment, supplies, and uniforms
for storage at the end of the season. Assists in collecting all equipment, supplies, and uniforms checked
out to team members. Assists in completing an itemized list and numbered inventory of equipment that
needs replaced and what will carry over to next season.
11. Continue to grow as a coach; attends and participates in coaching clinics, takes coaching related
courses, etc.
12. Seeks to attain and maintain good public relations with student-athletes, students, parents, staff and
assistant coaches.
13. Assists in fundraising to support the efforts of the team and athletic department.
14. Uses SportsYou, designated by Elbert County School District C-2, to regularly communicate with
student-athletes and families.
15. Check Elbert County School District C-2 issued email on a regular basis and respond in a timely
manner.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
? Complete yearly CHSAA Certification
? Yearly Pass CHSSA rules exam
? Previous coaching experience in the specific sport or related field

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, OR CERTIFICATIONS:
? Must have a valid driver’s license
? Must pass a school driver certification test
? Must pass various pre-employment background screenings; required at entry
? Must have current CPR and First Aid certification
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:
? Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment
? Microsoft and or Google applications
? Hudl for recording and editing film
? MaxPreps for entering schedules and statistics
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP AND DIRECTION/GUIDANCE:
? Reports to: Head Coach
Salary : $1,900 - $3,250
