The Mobile Unit Coordinator supports KCHC’s mission by managing daily operations of the mobile medical unit to ensure efficient, safe, and patient-centered care in the community. This role assists providers, facilitates patient registration, coordinates logistics, and serves as the primary on-site contact during deployments. Acting as a bridge between healthcare and community engagement, the coordinator connects individuals to KCHC’s services and resources while ensuring smooth, compliant, and effective mobile health operations across diverse settings.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program or higher required
Certifications & Licenses:
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant required and in good standing.
- LPN preferred.
- CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- Valid NC driver’s license with acceptable driving record and eligibility for company insurance.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in community development, outreach, or mobilization.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, or community-based organizations.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Mobile Unit Coordination:
- Coordinate daily operations of the mobile health unit, including scheduling, site setup, and equipment readiness.
- Maintain vehicle logs, perform safety inspections, and ensure compliance with all transportation and OSHA regulations.
- Manage supply inventory, patient forms, and outreach materials to ensure readiness for all events.
- Serve as primary contact for site hosts and community partners during mobile deployments.
- Ensure all clinical spaces, generators, and technology systems are operational before each event.
Clinical & Administrative Support:
- Prepare patients for examination; record vital signs, health histories, and documentation in EHR.
- Assist providers with basic clinical procedures within scope of practice.
- Register and check-in patients, verify sliding scale eligibility, and assist with consent forms.
- Support data entry, documentation, and reporting requirements tied to mobile operations.
Community Outreach & Engagement:
- Maintain a caseload and provide case management and navigation services
- Conduct outreach through home visits, health screenings, and mobile clinics
- Represent KCHC at health fairs, outreach events, and community meetings.
- Educate individuals on available KCHC services, financial assistance programs, and preventive care.
- Coordinate with community organizations to schedule outreach events.
- Assist in developing mobile outreach schedules and performance summaries.
- Ensures there is a variety of patient payor mix for mobile unit clinics
- Other Duties:
- Participate in staff trainings, meetings, and community events as assigned.
- Support other outreach or clinical initiatives as needed.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
- Number of community outreach events supported annually
- Number of patients engaged through mobile medical clinics
- Number of new patients successfully linked to a KCHC primary care provider
- Number of referrals made to social services and community resources
- Completion rate of follow-up contacts with patients after mobile clinic visits
- Accuracy and timeliness of Outreach documentation in Nextgen
- Growth in patient enrollment or service utilization through mobile medical clinics.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Must be able and comfortable working in a variety of settings including, but not limited to clinical environments and office spaces.
- Participation in community events may involve outdoor work and exposure to varying weather conditions, including high or low temperatures.
- Must be able to work nights and weekends as departmental needs arise.
- Must be able to operate all company vehicles safely during both daytime and nighttime hours.
Travel Requirements
- Local travel may be required for community events, outreach activities, meetings, and organizational initiatives.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record that meets organizational insurance requirements.

Physical Demands

- Fine motor skills required for clinical tasks such as administering injections, performing venipuncture, handling medical instruments and equipment.
