Pay: $90,000-DOE
We’re currently seeking an experienced Safety Manager to support and lead safety efforts on major heavy civil construction projects in the Greater Salt Lake City Area. This individual will be a visible, hands-on safety leader who partners closely with field operations to build and sustain a strong, practical, and collaborative safety culture.
The ideal candidate brings proven experience in construction safety, preferably in underground utilities, grading, earthwork, and/or concrete, and has a strong ability to coach, mentor, and influence crews at all levels. This role is not just about compliance; it is about actively shaping safe behaviors, empowering employees, and reinforcing Kinkaid’s commitment to doing work the right way.

Key Responsibilities
- Actively monitor job site activities and conduct routine safety inspections across multiple work areas, documenting findings through reports, photographs, and corrective action logs.
- Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen to maintain a proactive, field-first safety culture that supports production while prioritizing safety.
- Lead site-specific safety orientations, daily/weekly toolbox talks, and specialized training as needed (e.g., trenching, confined space, excavation, heavy equipment, concrete operations).
- Facilitate monthly safety meetings with supervisors and foremen to review trends, lessons learned, and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Respond to safety concerns, incidents, and near misses; support investigations and root cause analyses in collaboration with operations leadership.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and Kinkaid safety policies across project sites, including OSHA standards applicable to heavy civil construction.
- Review, support, and improve Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and pre-task planning documentation with field teams.
- Track and document safety infractions, positive safety observations, corrective actions, and follow-ups using Kinkaid’s approved safety systems and tools.
- Assist in compiling and analyzing safety data to identify risk trends and drive preventive action planning.
- Work closely with site leadership to identify potential safety risks and implement practical, field-appropriate corrective measures.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred OR 5–7 years of demonstrated construction safety experience (heavy civil experience strongly preferred).
- Proven track record of managing OSHA compliance, EMR performance, and loss-time incident prevention/management.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (highly valued given Kinkaid’s workforce).
- Experience with concrete placement safety, trenching/excavation, and heavy equipment operations preferred.
- OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 STSC certification required.
- Additional certifications such as CSP, ASP, or CHST strongly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel between job sites.
